We love this type of fiber and just know you will too! This is a soft wool fiber with a micron count averaging at 24 - 26. It has a next to skin soft texture and has a "soft, smooth loft" that in my opinion is better than regular Merino. It spins up easily as the staple length is 90 - 100 mm, giving it a nice draft length for new or experienced spinners!! The top drafts out smoothly due to the staple length and you can blend fibers with shorter staple lengths with this fiber as the base. If you are looking for a soft wool fiber to blend with other add on fibers this is a good choice for art batts and is smooth and soft for your rolag board.

Punta Arenas is a city near the tip of Chile's southernmost Patagonia region. Located on the Strait of Magellan, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, it's often used as base for excursions to the surrounding wilderness and Antarctica. This area produces some lovely, fine wool that we are delighted to have found.
It seems that sheep were brought to the Straits of Magellan by Chilean governor Diego Dublé Almeyda in 1876, who travelled specifically for that purpose to Europe. During the last three decades, specific strains of Dohne Merino have been introduced successfully in the region, along with other Merino lines, which resulted in the fineness of this wool.
